As announced in UWL’s December 16th press release, the Sun Chief Express service will transition to fixed weekly sailings beginning June 2026, reflecting continued growth across Vietnam and Southeast Asia and direct customer demand for greater schedule consistency and planning confidence.
As we prepare for this next phase of the service, Sun Chief is implementing a series of proforma schedule refinements designed to support and protect the forthcoming weekly cadence, ensuring a smooth transition while maintaining the premium reliability customers expect.
The following schedule adjustments support that transition and are outlined below:
V: BRIGHT will be phased out of rotation to be replaced by V: APOLLON D. Note that a one-way vessel X PRESS MEKONG will replace V: BRIGHT while V: APOLLON D gets into rotation.
As part of this transition, Haiphong will switch from a direct call to a hub and spoke model via CNSHK (EB) & CNSHK/VNHCM (WB) to provide the additional buffer needed to ensure we meet our goals of same day departures and arrivals.
